I am really glad that you posted your question I too am very curious about how TTC after WLS is handled.
Our only option at this point in infertility treatment is IVF and insurance didn't cover a dime of that but it does cover WLS. I figure that WLS is a good idea to get myself in shape before we do IVF in the future.
I have never had period problems but do not ovulate.... awesome right?
It appears to me that lots of ladies get pg within a year of surgery. When did you decide to start ttc again?
I am not judging I am just curious. I have no idea what I will do after RNY but I have to admit the idea of going on birth control seems stupid since we have been TTC for 3 years and had 3 unsuccessful IUIs.

Been trying now for 6 years. Never had a period never ovulated. Now after the surgery, I am seeing my period dont know if Im ovulating, scared to try because of the wait period but yearning to try because it seems like EVERYONE around me is getting pregnant and I cant. Some of them wish they weren't and I cry myself to sleep at night asking God why I cant get what I want the most. I did the surgery SOLELY to be able to concieve. So my question is why cant I start a little early. I am not really concerned about being 145, I want to get to a safe enough weight to concieve and carry a healthy baby.
I tried for 5 years with infertility treatments and had wls to help. I waited 14 months to start trying and got surgeon and RE approval to start again. There are reasons to wait. Yes, a lot of women get pg early out and are fine, thank God. But why take the risk? What is a few more months in the grand scheme of things? I have 2 post op babies and have been very blessed. Let the surgery do its job and try to be patient. Good luck. Shari
I had been TTC for over 9 years now everything short of IVF. I hope that having WLS will be the cure for my infertility since I really don't have a true diagnosis as to why I'm not conceiving. Although I'm already 32 my hubby is 40 and I don't want to wait another year or two to TTC I am willing to so that I have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Isn't that the whole reason to have WLS and TTC is a healthy pregnancy?. Anyway I'm not judging you because believe me I totally want to start TTC way sooner than I'm supposed to but I respect the science behind why it is safer to wait. I just want to have a child and Ive waited 9 years so what is another 2. I will enjoy life and it will go by so quickly.
